 Maricelma da Silva Soares de Souza graduated in Biological Sciences (Medical Modality) from the UNESP – Univ Estadual Paulista in 1993, and then undertook a MS in Pharmacology (Unesp, 1996) and a PhD in Gynecology, Obstetrics and Mastology at the Botucatu Medical School, Unesp (2005). She is a teacher and researcher in the University of Marilia and a collaborator in research projects at Unesp. The author has experience in the area of Pharmacology and Biochemistry, focusing mainly on diabetes mellitus, exposure to cigarette smoke, reproductive performance, the antioxidant system and natural products.
